My main issue is that I suddenly cannot run my Java programs from my Windows 10 cmd prompt. I cant get the command to work on the machine in scenario 1 at all.scenario 2 is pretty much an identical machine and the command works fine (account 4 local non MS account). Both units were upgrades to the 1607 build. I'm really at a loss here.does anyone know a way to fix the underlying issue on the machine in scenario 1? I tried the 'sfc /scannow' command. No errors were found.I am trying to configure logon hours for the administrator account on the machine in scenario 1, but I cant even get the base command to work. I doubt its a GPO. I don't even have any local ones configured. I also tried DISM, that didn't work unfortunately. It didn't detect any errors, and I even ran the restore command which completed successfully. No joy with that approach. A reboot wouldn't be necessary after that, would it?i'm not sure where mapped drives came into the conversation lol. The plot thickens.to recap my issue:this began with me trying to use the 'net user' command to set logon hours for an administrator account.i then discovered that other syntax for the 'Net' command are returning this same error. A list of commands that return 'access denied system error 5' after these text strings are executed in an elevated command window:net (which would normally display the list of its syntax options)net ACCOUNTSnet COMPUTERnet CONFIGnet CONTINUEnet FILEnet GROUPnet HELPnet HELPMSGnet LOCALGROUPnet PAUSEnet SESSIONnet SHAREnet STARTnet STATISTICSnet STOPnet TIMEnet USERthe only two commands i can get to show any output other than access denied are: 'net USE' and 'net VIEW' the others don't even let me execute the base commands at all.i am currently running update 1607 of windows 10 pro.

I had not noticed this issue until now. I don't recall ever needing to run the 'net' command on this box since i clean installed windows 10 a year ago.i have tried using 'sfc /scannow' and DISM to repair windows. Both detected no errors and DISM had no effect when iran a restore anyway. I have also tried running these commands on the local admin profile and a brand new user profile i made an administrator.
I get the same results. Lastly i have done a clean boot in safemode with the same outcome.i am also testing this on another machine that followed the same update path through the major windows 10 builds. Because of this i have a pretty good comparison to see if behavior does not match a proper working system. Both units:-are running the same os: win 10 pro x64-had windows 10 clean installed on them within a month of each other using the same install media (these were not upgrades from 7 or 8)-are not joined to a domain-should not have had any group policy's enabledthe problem device is my primary unit.
The working unit i use as a file/plex media server. The only app on my troubled unit i am outwardly suspicious of causing something like this is Java.please note i want to avoid 'windows family' parental controls approach to specifying logon times because they presently require a MS account to function. I believe the next feature update for 10 allows this to function for local accounts as well. Unfortunately it isn't here yet.
